Filling Out the Note in Stride

1. Comprehend connects directly to the note you’re viewing in Stride
2. It recognizes the visit type (e.g., Initial Evaluation, Daily Note) and fills in only the relevant sections.
3. Available sections appear in the Comprehend extension:

• Subjective
• Objective
• Assessment
• Flowsheet

4. Comprehend will only fill out the sections of the note that apply to your visit 🎉

💬 How to Use the Comprehend Extension: Your Personal Medical Scribe!

Comprehend works in three easy steps:

1. ⏺️ Record your visit (live or summarized)
2. 📝 Generate your note directly into Stride
3. ✅ Customize what sections update and train the AI to sound more like you

Follow the steps below — each one includes pictures to make the process clear and easy to follow.

⏺️ Recording Your Visit:

1. Open the Patient Chart – You don’t need to have it open while recording, only when you’re ready to fill it out later.
2. Open the Comprehend extension – Click the puzzle icon in Chrome and select Comprehend.

3. Click New Visit” – This creates a new recording.!

4.  Let Comprehend sync to the Page (if you’re on an open note) It will look for:

• The patient’s name
• The note type (e.g., Initial Eval, Follow up)
• The sections it can fill out.

5. Record Your Visit Details

• Choose how to provide visit information:
• Record the entire visit live (up to 120 min of recording time)
• Record yourself summarizing what happened during the visit.
• Or do both!![

6.  Finish Recording

• 🛑  When you're done, click ‘Stop’.

7.  AI Processes the Recording

• The AI will take a 3-10 seconds to analyze your recording and process the information.
• Wait until it says ‘AI Complete’ or ‘Transcription Complete’ before generating your note.

8. EMR Note Type

• Comprehend looks at the note type in your EMR to make sure it writes the note appropriately for that visit type.
• 

🧾 Filling Out the Note in Stride

1. After your visit is recorded, click Comprehend to generate the note.

• We will use all information recorded whether it's a conversation or a summary of the visit to write the note.

2. Review your note and submit.

🧩 Skipping Sections You Don’t Want Filled

Option 1 – Skip Entire Section (example objective section)

1. Open your patient note.
2. Open Comprehend extension → + New Visit.
3. Scroll to the section → toggle to Skip (click the left area of the toggle)
4. Setting saves automatically for that visit type.

Option 2 - Skipping sections within a larger section (example Objective comments)

1. Open patient note.
2. Open Comprehend extension → + New Visit.
3. Click the section name → View More.
4. Check Skip next to specific boxes you don’t want filled!

✍🏽 Customizing Your Notes

Option 1 - Learn from Edits (Recommended)

1. Generate your note.
2. Edit the generate note in Stride however you want in Stride (add, remove, reword).
3. Click Learn to train the AI from your edits! Next time we write a note it will match your preferences.

Option 2 - Write your own prompt! (Advanced)

Step by Step Guide:

1. Open the note you want to update in Stride.

2. Open the Comprehend extension

3. Click ‘+ New Visit’ or click open an old visit

4. Scroll in the extension to find the section you’d like to update.

5. Click section name to open the drop down

• This shows you the ‘instructions,’ which explain how the AI is using the transcript to generate content in this section.

🔄 Can Comprehend Update Carried Forward Notes?

Yes! If your EMR carries notes forward, Comprehend can update instead of rewriting the note from scratch.

1. Open your previous note in Stride
2. Open Comprehend extension → + New Visit.
3. Click the section you want to update.
4. Add or edit instructions for that section.
5. Click Save.
