How Comprehend Handles Multilingual Visits
Overview
Comprehend allows providers to conduct patient visits in any language. The system is designed to support multilingual encounters while still producing standardized documentation in English for EMR use.
How It Works
- Providers may speak with patients in any language during the visit.
- The live transcript will display in the original spoken language.
- After the visit is processed through Comprehend, the system will generate the final note in English.
- This English version is what is used to populate the EMR or generate responses.
Important Note on Translation
Comprehend does not currently provide real-time translation during the visit. Translation occurs after processing, not live. This means:
- Patients and providers can communicate naturally in their preferred language.
- The system will not display a translated conversation in real time.
- The final output note will be generated in English after the visit is completed and processed.
